Time & Location

High Street, High St, St Neots, Saint Neots PE19, UK
About the event
For the third year, we'll be hitting the St Neots town centre to raise the profile of Duchenne, our cause Strong for Samson (for Action Duchenne) and collecting vital funds to help give people with Duchenne longer, better lives.
As a family, we've done loads of things over the past 3.5 years since Samson (now 7) was diagnosed with Duchenne muscular dystrophy (a rare, muscle wasting condition for which there is no cure - life expectancy late 20s).
**ALL OUR FUNDRAISING GOES TO ACTION DUCHENNE, HELPING EVERYONE WITH THE CONDITION, WE DO NO FUNDRAISING FOR OURSELVES**
We've shaved our heads, Lex won Fundraiser of the Year through his amazing feats including a 24 hour cycle between St Neots and Godmanchester, numerous Tough Mudders, distance cycles, and a half marathon.
We as a family have forged relationships with local companies and groups including Shift Momentum, St Neots Town Council, St Neots Round Table, St Neots Ladies Circle, Cambourne fishing club, Keystone Marketing Floored by ian limited, Black Cat 107, Bohemia St. Neots, Art&Soul Cafe to gain support and insight into helping us spread the word about Duchenne and get our local community more disability-friendly.
Thank you to all our friends, supporters and companies who have helped us so far. We'll be out in force on the High Street on Thursday 4th April so come and say hi! If you would like to volunteer for an hour, or as long as you like, please get in touch, lynnette@actionduchenne.org.
What we're doing this year
This year, Lynnette (Samson's Mum) is doing the fastest zipline in the world in Wales. Alongside our Strong for Samson work in St Neots, we both work full time, Lex is a carer for a young man with Autism, Lynnette supports other families in their Duchenne journeys through her role at Action Duchenne. We balance the multitude of additional hospital meetings, appointments, advocacy for Samson and other extras which come hand in hand with looking after a child with a life-limiting condition.
